The Gun Control Act of 1968, at 18 U.S.C. § 923(g), requires licensed dealers, pawnbrokers, and collectors to maintain records of receipt (acquisition), sale, or other disposition of firearms (acquisition and disposition (A&D) records) in the format that the Attorney General may prescribe.
