The Summer Food Service Program provides assistance to states to initiate and maintain nonprofit food service programs for needy children during the summer months and at other approved times. The collection of information is required to administer and operate SFSP in accordance with the National School Lunch Act. FNS is revising the reporting burden to include two monitoring requirements that were previously omitted and that have been in use with an OMB control number. This submission also corrects rounding issues in the total burden.
US Code:
42 USC 1758
Name of Law: Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (Section 13)
This information collection is currently approved with 338,411 burden hours and 292,363 responses. FNS estimates that the addition of two monitoring requirements will increase the burden hours by 124,290 hours due to a program change resulting from the addition of these previously omitted requirements that have been collected without an OMB control number and in potential violation of the Paperwork Reduction Act. FNS has also adjusted the burden hours for this collection to resolve rounding issues which results in a reduction of 2 hours due to an administrative adjustment. FNS estimates an overall total burden hour increase of 124,288 hours as a result of this program change and administrative adjustment. FNS further estimates that the addition of the previously omitted monitoring requirements will increase the responses for this collection by 99,432 responses due to the program change related to a potential violation of the Paperwork Reduction Act. With this revision, FNS estimates that this collection will have 462,699 burden hours and 391,795 responses.
