Terms of Clearance: In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act and 5 CFR 1320, this paperwork request has been approved through June 1, 1991. ERS has agreed to send a letter or announcement with the survey to indicate their sponsorship. The agency will also perform a post card follow-up for any second copies of the survey they must send. According to the agency, these measures will increase the response rate for the survey, allowing them to reduce their sample size from 3500 to approximately 2200.

Abstract: THE SURVEY IS NEEDED TO UPDATE EXISTING INFORMATION RELATIVE TO HONEY PRODUCTION, POLLINATION, AND THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE BEEKEEPING INDUST TO OTHER SEGMENTS OF AGRICULTURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT. USDA WAS MANDATED TO CONDUCT THE STUDY BY THE SENATE AND HOUSE COMMITTEES ON APPROPRIATIONS IN THE 1987 APPROPRIATION BILL. HONEY PRODUCERS, PACKERS, IMPORTERS, AND BROKERS WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE SURVEY.
