The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and consular officers of the Department of State (DOS) use Form I-134 to determine whether, at the time of the beneficiaryâs application, petition, or request for certain immigration benefits, that beneficiary has sufficient financial support to pay for expenses for the duration of their temporary stay in the United States. Additionally, biographic information about the beneficiary provided on the Form I-134 will be used for biographic security screening and advance travel authorization by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Prior to the transmission of this biographic information to CBP for this purpose, the beneficiary will be requested to confirm electronically the accuracy of the biographic information provided on their behalf by the Form I-134 respondent/supporter.
