Information collection associated with Federal Order for collecting information related to detecting and eradicating presence of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in dairy herds and milk.
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is a contagious viral disease of domestic poultry and wild birds. HPAI is deadly to domestic poultry and can wipe out entire flocks within a matter of days. The disease is a threat to the poultry and dairy industries, animal health, human health, trade, and the United States and worldwide economy. HPAI H5N1 has now been detected in dairy herds and milk. APHIS has published a Federal Order mandating further testing of dairy herds and milk to eradicate the spread of the HPAI disease.
