The Exercise Information System (EXIS®) is a voluntary, online tool developed by TSA to support the mission of a program developed and implemented by TSA to fulfill requirements of the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007 (9/11 Act). These statutory requirements led to the development of the Intermodal Security Training Exercise Program (I-STEP) for the nationâs Transportation Systems Sector (TSS).
I-STEP is a security exercise program focused on security in the TSS. The program assists transportation partners to build and sustain security preparedness to protect travelers, enhance national resilience, and identify capability gaps and needed resources. Within this program, EXIS® is an interactive resource for the TSS. As an interactive system, information collection is necessary for the program to be successful.
Use of EXIS® is completely voluntary for industry and government entities (Federal, State, and Local) within the TSS. While TSA expects the EXIS® tool to be useful to industry, as described above, use of the system would not guarantee compliance with any existing or future TSA, DHS, or other Federal regulation.

Name of Law: Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007 (911 Act)
TSA is revising the information collection and will no longer collect the Supervisor or other Sponsorâs Name, Employment Verification Contact Name and Verification Contact Information. The revision does not impact the burden. However, TSA updated the information collection with the latest data and population assumptions, which caused an increase in the annual responses and subsequently the burden hours. In the 2022 ICR, TSA estimated the annual responses at 13,186 and the annual burden hours at 7,091. The current annual responses have increased to 15,699 and the burden to 11,422 annual hours.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
