All airmen wishing to use their foreign license in lieu of an aeronautical knowledge test, experience and a practical test when applying for a restricted or unrestricted U.S. certificate must submit to this information collection. The Airmen Certification Branch will use the required information to properly identify the person for the purpose of requesting foreign license verification from the appropriate CAA and for checking the applicantâs information against a list of potential TSA threats. Any person who is applying for a U.S. certificate and/or rating on the basis of a foreign license must apply for that certificate at least 90 days before arriving at the designated FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) where the applicant intends to receive the U.S. certificate. This allows time for the Airmen Certification Branch to ask for and receive verification from the appropriate CAA that the personâs foreign license is current and valid.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
