Abstract: The STD Surveillance Network provides critical clinical, demographic and behavioral information through enhanced and sentinel surveillance among people diagnosed with gonorrhea, syphilis and those persons seeking care at STD clinics in order to enhance STD surveillance data, to inform a more comprehensive understanding of epidemiologic trends and determinants of STDs of interest, monitor public health program impact and provide a more robust evidence base for directing public health action.

Short Statement: The program changes include removal of 115 data elements from a retired activity, the addition of 87 data elements in the STD clinic and case-based surveillance components, and addition of an HIV registry matching activity for patients in STD clinics and reported cases of gonorrhea and adult syphilis. The total annualized burden will change from 5,863 hours to 7,510. Specifically, the changes in the estimates of burden are primarily accounted for by the following: Future expansion to include up to 40 STD clinical facilities.
