Abstract: The National Marine Fisheries Service, Alaska Regional Office, requests a new collection for a new program—the Pacific Cod Trawl Cooperative Program (PCTC Program). This request is due to a final rule to implement Amendment 122 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area, which establishes the PCTC Program to allocate Pacific cod harvest quota to qualifying groundfish License Limitation Program license holders and qualifying processors (RIN 0648-BL08). The PCTC Program is a limited access privilege program for the harvest of Pacific cod in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands trawl catcher vessel sector. This action is necessary to increase the value of the fishery, minimize bycatch to the extent practicable, provide for the sustained participation of fishery-dependent communities, ensure the sustainability and viability of the resource, and promote safety and stability in the harvesting and processing sectors. This information collection contains the collection instruments necessary for NMFS to implement the new PCTC Program and manage cooperative quota and quota share in this fishery.
