This collection is needed as part of the publication of an interim final rule that amends the National Security Industrial Base Regulations (15 CFR 700-705) to add two new supplements to part 705 which set forth the requirements and process for how parties in the United States may submit requests for exclusions from the remedies instituted by the President (âexclusion requestsâ) regarding the effects of imported articles on national security. The new supplements also set forth the requirements and process for how parties in the United States may submit objections to the granting of exclusion requests.

On December 9, 2021, BIS issued an interim final rule, "Removal of Certain General Approved Exclusions (GAEs) Under the Section 232 Steel and Aluminum Tariff Exclusions Process," (86 FR 70003), which removed several General Approved Exclusions (GAEs). It is expected that this IFR will reduce the number of exclusion requests submitted thus reducing the associated burden hours.
