The Plant Variety Protection Act provides for the issuance of intellectual property protection on novel varieties of seed reproduced crops. Information collected provides expert examiners in the PVPO a basis for issuing or denying a certificate of protection.
The removal of the form ST-471 âRequest for Credit Card Servicesâ as well as an adjustment in the number of respondents has created an overall decrease in the number of total burden hours. The decrease in respondents is due to a negative trend in total numbers of applicants, possibly due to increased consolidation in the seed industry.
