Abstract: PBGC is requesting an extension of approval of the information collection under its booklet, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders & PBGC. PBGC needs the information contained in qualified domestic relations orders (QDROs) in order to provide benefits to alternate payees in compliance with the requirements of Title I of ERISA. An alternate payee is required to provide this information in order to obtain benefits.

Short Statement: The reduction in the annual time burden and cost burden are attributable to: the trend to fewer overall filings and the experience of professionals who prepare the orders has led to a decrease in the the estimated average hourly rate. Taken together, these changes result in a decrease in the total cost (to approximately $700 per order, down from $1,500 per order in 2018) to prepare orders for participants and alternate payees.
