Abstract: This ICR covers 2 information collections, one for childhood blood lead surveillance by NCEH and another for adult blood lead surveillance by NIOSH. This joint ICR includes 2 data collection systems that provide a coordinated, comprehensive, and systematic public health approach to the surveillance and monitoring of blood lead levels (BLLs) for children < 16 years old and for occupationally exposed adults ≥ 16 years old in the U.S. The goal of the NCEH CLPPP is to promote primary prevention of exposure to lead in children, and, as a secondary prevention strategy, to promote blood lead testing and surveillance of BLLs in children to ensure that there is a comprehensive system in place for the identification, referral, case management, and follow-up evaluation of lead-exposed children.
