This information collection request is for gathering data on the pandemic Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in animals (known as COVID-19 in humans).
Approval of this request will allow APHIS to gather data on the pandemic Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in animals (known as COVID-19 in humans). The pandemic is potentially dangerous to animals and there is an urgent need to learn more about the virus so effective countermeasures may be developed. Otherwise, the impact on U.S. agriculture and subsequent losses may be significant.
This emergency request is to allow APHIS to collect information about the pandemic SARS CoV-2 in animals (known as COVID-19 in humans). Collection will be done concurrent to other monthly reporting approved in a separate ICR. This request affects approximately 77 respondents, mostly state veterinary officials, and has an estimated 949 responses and 1,626 hours of burden. The rates are approximately 13 responses per respondent per year, with each response taking approximately 1.7 hours to complete.
