The FTC intends to request sales and marketing data from the largest cigarette and smokeless tobacco companies. The FTC has authority to request this data under Section 6(b) of the FTC Act and will use this data to publish reports on each of these industries.
The burden estimate has been adjusted upward from 1,980 hours per year in 2017 to 2,940 hours per year in 2020. This correspondingly leads to an increase in estimated labor costs from $198,000 in 2017 to $294,000 in 2020.
