Section 231 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA), requires the USDA to implement a program to recognize exemplary breastfeeding support practices at WIC local agencies and clinics. Therefore, FNS is developing the Breastfeeding Award of Excellence to recognize and celebrate local agencies that provide exemplary breastfeeding programs and support services.
This information collection is currently approved with 1,161 burden hours and 726 responses. As part of this revision, the number of estimated respondents has been adjusted based on historical numbers instead of assuming that 30% of all eligible local WIC agencies will apply for an annual award. FNS also determined that some of the WIC Local Agencies were actually non-profit organizations which should be counted as businesses instead of State, Local, and Tribal respondents (although this change does not have an overall affect on the burden because the non-profit organizations were backed out of the numbers for the WIC Local Agencies). FNS estimates that these adjustments will reduce the burden by 587 burden hours and 368 responses. Therefore, with this revision, FNS estimates that this collection will have 574 burden hours and 358 responses.
