The proposed 2019 SLEPS is a new data collection aimed to fill the knowledge gap that exists surrounding police working in the nation's public schools. SLEPS will collect data from Law Enforcement Agencies on infrastructure supporting School Resource Officer (SRO) programs, such as funding, training, internal policy, and agreements with schools. SLEPS will include BJS's first officer survey, collecting data on SRO's career experience, training, and the regular activities in which they engage while working in schools.
