This form is provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as a means for certain inadmissible nonimmigrant aliens to apply for permission to enter the United States. This form is also used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), to grant temporary permission to certain inadmissible nonimmigrants who wish to enter the United States through a port of entry pursuant to section 212(d)(3) of the INA and 8 CFR 212.4. USCIS also uses this form to address inadmissibility issues for T (Victims of Severe Forms of Trafficking in Persons) and U (Victims of Criminal Activity) petitioners. This is in accordance with 8 CFR 212.16, 8 CFR 212.17 and 8 CFR 214.14.
USCIS is submitting an 83C to add an e-filing instrument for Form I-192 when filed with CBP. The estimated annual hour burden for this collection of information decreased from 102,075 to 100,325 hours due to a decrease in the hour burden per response for submitting Form I-192 via e-SAFE to CBP from 1.25 to 1.5 hours, to account for efficiencies created in an electronic filing environment like e-SAFE. There was no change in the estimated number of respondents for this collection of information. The total respondent population previously reported is, however, now being accounted for separately for USCIS and CBP. The estimated annual cost burden for this collection of information increased due to an adjustment in the estimated average cost per respondent.
