Abstract: This request is for a revision to the current information collection as a result of a proposed rule, RIN 0648-BF43, to implement measures under the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Jonah Crab as recommended by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. This action would add a new requirement for dealers that purchase Jonah crabs caught in Federal waters to be issued a dealer permit by GARFO. Jonah crabs have historically been caught as an incidental catch in the lobster fishery, but more recently have become a targeted species. Due to the overlap with lobster, a fishery for which there are Federal vessel and dealer reports, it is likely that the vast majority of those dealers purchasing Jonah crab already have a Federal dealer permit and are required to report all purchases from Federal vessels.
