This information collection is to collect weekly sales information of dairy products such as cheddar cheese, butter, nonfat dry milk and dry whey. The sales information reported are used by USDA to calculate minimum prices for raw milk marketed through the Federal milk marketing order system. This collection will require manufacturers to submit information only by electronic means specified by AMS.
Decreases in AMS' original estimates regarding the number of responders have been refined since the program's inception and in the "time per response" estimates since the previous submission. Some manufacturers have consolidated operations to decrease the number of individual plants in operation. Also, some manufacturers no longer produce the standard dairy products reported but are now making customized products that do not meet the reporting criteria.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
