OSHA is proposing to increase the burden hours. This increase is due to updated data showing an increase in the number of firms affected. The Agency has changed the methodology to calculate the number of fire extinguishers. This ICR uses the Fieldâs Fire Protection manual to estimate that there is one portable fire extinguisher for every 11,250 square feet of building space. As a result of the new methodology, the number of portable fire extinguishers increased from 9 million to 39 million.
