This survey estimates the number of recreation visits that occur on lands in the National Forest System used to report on an annual basis to Congress on the agency's effectiveness in utilizing appropriated funds.
Change from previous submission: Dept. of Interior/BLM is no longer participating in this collection resulting in a program decrease of 6,000 responses and 885 burden hours. Remaining adjustment decrease is in estimated number of respondents. The reduction reflects an increase in survey effort to dispersed settings with lower visitation volume. Most FS visitation occurs in these settings, but the number of visits per day and hence the interviews obtained per day is not as large as in either developed settings or higher use settings.
