The basis for issuance of the Beryllium final rule is a determination by the Assistant Secretary for the Occupational Safety and Health that employees exposed to beryllium face a significant risk to their health at the current permissible exposure limits and that promulgating the final standards will substantially reduce that risk.

This is a new collection of information. The standard includes collection of information requirements for: conducting worker exposure monitoring, establishing, implementing, and updating a written exposure control plans, conducting medical surveillance of workers, providing examining physicians with specific information, obtaining written physicianâs opinions and providing written medical reports to workers and establishing and maintaining workersâ exposure monitoring and medical surveillance records.
