Abstract: To establish Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) eligibility and insure that the program is administered according to statutory and USDA implementing regulations. The CACFP provides cash reimbursement and commodity assistance, on a per meal basis, for food service to children in nonresidential child care centers and family day care homes, and to eligible adults in nonresidential adult day care centers. The Food and Nutrition Service has established application, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements to manage the CACFP effectively.

Short Statement: This collection is currently approved with 2,234,840 burden hours and 5,456,969 responses. The addition of a new requirement for written documentation when requesting substitutions for fluid milk or food components for participants with special non-disability, dietary needs per the regulation "Child and Adult Care Food Program: Meal Pattern Revisions Related to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010" resulted in program changes to the burden. In addition, adjustments to the burden have also been made. As a result of program changes (18,811) and adjustments (227,485), the burden hours have slightly increased by 246,296 hours. The responses have also increased by 2,440,320 responses. As a result of program changes and administrative adjustments, FNS estimates that this collection will have 2,481,136 burden hours and 7,897,289 responses.
