This standard requires employers to train workers about the hazards of asbestos, monitor worker exposure, provide medical surveillance, and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to asbestos. These records are used by employers, workers, and the Government to ensure that workers are not harmed by exposure to asbestos in the workplace. OSHA is proposing to remove the requirement that employers document employeeâs social security number (SSN) in their exposure and medical records. Time to document SSN in records is negligible and therefore, the Agency is not requesting changes to the burden hour or cost estimates in this ICR. In addition, the Agency is adding the option of digital radiography to its existing standards because digital radiography systems are rapidly replacing traditional analog film-based systems in medical facilities.
