Abstract: The standard requires employers to monitor worker exposure to Ethylene Oxide (EtO), to provide medical surveillance, and to establish and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to EtO. These records will be used by employers, workers, physicians, and the Government to ensure that workers are not harmed by exposure to EtO.

Short Statement: OSHA is proposing to remove the requirement that employers document employee’s social security number (SSN) in their exposure and medical records. Time to document SSN in records is negligible and therefore, the Agency is not requesting changes to the burden hour or cost estimates in this ICR. In addition, OSHA is requesting an adjustment decrease in the burden hours of 4 hours, from 35,051 hours to 35,047 hours, and the cost to remains the same. The adjustment decrease is due to the Agency’s determination that the requirement for employers to make records available to OSHA upon request no longer takes a burden under the PRA. OSHA typically requests access to records during an inspection, and information collected by the Agency during the investigation is not subject to the PRA under 5 CFR 1320.4(a)(2).
