Collect information required by the Packers and Stockyards Act to provide information to hog producers on contract options available and the number of hogs committed under contract with packers at plants that slaughter 100,000 or more hogs.
Information is required from packers for processing plants that meet certain criteria, including size as measured by annual slaughter. The USDA Grain Inspection, Packer and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) is responsible for implementing and enforcing the P&S Act, including the swine contract library. The collection of information is necessary for GIPSA to perform the functions required for the mandatory reporting of swine packer marketing contract information.

Firms and plants have merged, ceased business, become processing only facilities terminating the requirement for submission to the swine contract library. As a result, an initial 35 firms operating 55 plants has gone down to 32 firms operating 54 plants with 1,127 responses and 2,600 hours.
