The School Breakfast Program is a nutrition assistance program whose benefit is providing breakfasts to children that meet nutritional requirements prescribed by the Department. This Program is authorized to issue payments to the States to assist them to initiate, maintain, or expand nonprofit breakfast programs in schools.
This information collection is currently approved with 33,432,713 responses and 3,924,902 burden hours. With this renewal, FNS estimates an increase of 216,656 responses and a decrease of 100,595 hours. The changes in burden are due to adjustments in the numbers of SFAs and schools in the School Breakfast Program and in respondents submitting late claims, the removal of duplicate reporting burden, adjustments in time estimates, and the removal of burden for requirements that are either not occurring or are not information requirements. With this renewal, FNS estimates that this collection will have 33,649,369 responses and 3,824,307 burden hours.
