The collection of information is vital to Rural Development to make decisions regarding the eligibility of grant recipients in order to ensure compliance with the regulations and to ensure that the funds obtained from the Government are being used for the purposes for which they were awarded.
This package reflects a decrease in number of applicants from 350 to 274 but an increase in responses from 1,644 to 3,660 and an increase in respondent burden hours from 37,415 to 54,498. The increases are a result of the final rule changing regulations tied to the 2014 Farm Bill. The corresponding change in Federal impact as well as updated wage rates increases the annualized cost to the Federal government from $300,497 to $1,072,165 from the previous package.
