The purpose of this standard and its information collection requirements is to provide protection for workers from the adverse effects associated with occupational exposure to coke oven emissions. Employers must monitor worker exposure, reduce worker exposure to permissible exposure limits, and provide medical examinations and other information to workers pertaining to coke oven emissions.

The Agency is requesting an adjustment decrease of 2,449 burden hours (from 54,241 hours to 51,792). The adjustment decrease is mainly due to a decrease in the number of identified batteries that are subject to the Standard. In addition, although there was a decrease in the number of workers and medical examinations, there was a $45,107 increase in the cost from $839,680 to $884,787 as result of an increase in the cost of a medical examination.
