P.L. 113-79 requires a review of NAP cash benefits in Puerto Rico and an assessment of the potential adverse effects of discontinuing the cash portion. Information will be collected on where NAP participants use the cash portion of their benefit, what is purchased, and the impact if they can no longer make some purchases.
The 2014 Farm Bill requires FNS to conduct a study to review nutrition assistance in the form of cash benefits in Puerto Rico. The Act requires that the report be delivered to Congress in August 2015. To meet the statutory requirements and deadline, we are targeting beginning data collection in October 2014.
