Abstract: An individual who participates in the Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty and who serves on active duty for two years followed by six years in the Selected Reserve must choose (elect) to apply the Selected Reserve service toward either the Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty or the Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve. This option may also apply to Selected Reservists who are called up to active duty and serve for on active duty for a period of at least 24 months. The election must be made in writing.
