This request is for a nonsubstantive change to slightly modify survey activities. NHAMCS is a national survey of patient visits to emergency departments, outpatient departments, and ambulatory surgery locations of general and short-stay hospitals, as well as freestanding ambulatory surgery centers. The request is to discontinue a supplemental sample of hospitals and to discontinue the collection of data from freestanding ambulatory surgery centers. Minor changes in survey content are also requested, especially to questions related to use of electronic medical records.
