The purpose of this collection is to obtain the information necessary to issue road permits in order to manage shared investments in roads and to require commercial users to perform road maintenance commensurate with their use of roads.

Name of Law: National Forest Roads and Trails Act of 1964
Burden estimates have decreased due to a more thorough investigation into the use of these forms and permits issued. Burden was also reduced by separating form FS-7700-40 into three parts in order for respondents to skip portions of the application that are not applicable to thier need reducing burden by 304 hours.
