The purpose of this collection is to verify that shelled garden peas from Kenya meet USDA phytosanitary requirements for import into the continental United States. In order to be eligible for importation, the peas would have to be shelled, washed, and inspected and accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service.
Since Kenya is not currently requesting to ship shelled peas to the United States, the burden hours have decreased from 6 hours to 1 (an adjustment of -5 hours), the number of responses decreased from 40 to 1 (an adjustment of -39 responses), and the respondents decreased from 2 to 1. APHIS does not know what the future holds for Kenya requesting to ship shelled peas into the United States, but does not want to retire this information collection at this time in case the shipping changes in the near future.
