Abstract: The standard for shackles and hooks (29 CFR 1915.113(b)(1)) requires that all hooks for which no applicable manufacturer's recommendations are available be tested and that the employer retain a certification record. The standard on portable air receivers (29 CFR 1915.172(d)) requires that portable, unfired pressure vessels be examined quarterly and subjected to a yearly hydrostatic pressure test and that a certification record be maintained.

Short Statement: OSHA is requesting a revision to its currently approved ICR. As a result of the Standards Improvement Project--Phase III (SIP-III) Final Rule, the Agency identified new collection of information requirements for employers to have permanently affixed labels attached to slings and shackles as prescribed by the manufacturer's recommendations. As a result,the Agency is proposing to increase the burden hours from 13,045 hours to 13,051 hours.
