Terms of Clearance: Prior to the commencement of the 2012 Economic Census -- Commodity Flow Survey forms distribution, the Census Bureau shall provide on its Internet site prominent links to a set of finalized survey forms, including instructions and cover letters, comparable to those provided for the 2007 Economic Census report forms. The final forms and letters shall reflect any changes in the survey year, OMB number expiration date, and Census leadership from those submitted for review.

Abstract: The 2012 CFS will provide the only comprehensive source of multi-modal, system-wide data on the volume and pattern of goods movement in the United States. Federal, State, and local governments use the data for making informed decisions for developing and maintaining an efficient transportation infrastructure that supports economic growth and competitiveness. The CFS will collect shipment data from establishments involved in manufacturing, mining, wholesale, and selected retail and services, as well as from auxiliary establishments that support these industries.
