The Police Public Contact Supplement is a supplement to the National Crime Victimization Survey that was developed to provide national level information on the nature and consequences of respondents' interactions with police and the possible use of excessive force by law enforcement officers during these interactions. The PPCS is conducted every three years, from July through December, and is asked of all persons 16 years of age or older in NCVS interviewed households. The 2011 PPCS will be collected solely using computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) technology.
