The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) proposes to conduct a survey of felony case processing in a sample of the nation's 75 most populous counties and examine overall levels of court automation in a sample of the nation's 900 most populous counties.

Name of Law: THE OMNIBUS CRIME CONTROL AND SAFE STREETS ACT OF 1968
BJS redesigned the State Court Processing Statistics program to incorporate alternative sampling strategies and data collection methods, which will allow for periodic modular enhancements of the program. Therefore, BJS will collect aggregate information on the data systems and associated capacities of courts representatives of the 900 most populous counties.
