Abstract: Underground mine operators are required to submit to MSHA for approval, a plan for the instruction of miners in firefighting and evacuation procedures to be followed in event of an emergency. In addition, fire drills are to be conducted quarterly, equipment tested, and a record kept of the drills and testing results.

This change is due to removing a previous entry that was not a paperwork requirement and a slight increase in the number of mines overall. Burden hours and number of responses increased due to the slight increase in the number of mines. Due to previous rounding and a slight increase in postage, the burden cost increased from $0 to $1,344.
