Abstract: The information obtained in this survey will be used by the Department of Labor, other government agencies, academic researchers, the news media, and the general public to understand the employment experiences and life-cycle transitions of men and women born in the years 1957 to 1964 and living in the United States when the survey began in 1979.

Short Statement: The increase in burden hours results from the reinstatement of this collection in order to conduct round 24 of the survey. The estimated total respondent burden of 13763 hours for Round 24 is lower than the estimated burden of 14,741 hours from Round 23. The decrease can be attributed primarily to the aging of children from the longer child survey to the shorter young adult survey. This also reduces the time needed to administer the mother supplement.
