However, within the first six months of this approval, NASS will discuss with OMB their plans for conducting methodological research on the ARMS -- based on the recommendations in the report from the National Academy of Sciences.

The Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS) is the primary source of information for the U.S. Department of Agriculture on a broad range of issues related to agricultural resource use, costs of production, and farm sector financial conditions. ARMS is the only annual source of whole farm information available for objective evaluation of many critical issues related to agriculture and the rural economy.

The increase in burden is due in part to the expansion of the publicity materials focused on increasing response rates. In addition we have added a Contractor Expense Survey to each year to coincide with the ARMS III survey.
