Abstract: Data collection for the National Blood Lead Surveillance program was approved in 2004, and we wish to revise the data collection request for the Childhood and Adult Blood Lead Epidemiology and Surveillance program, conducted by the CDC National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH)in collaboration with the CDC National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Forty-two childhood lead poisoning prevention programs and 40 States in the Adult Blood Lead Epidemiology Surveillance program submit electronic data to CDC, for the purpose of monitoring persons with lead poisoning, evaluating state programs, identifying clusters of cases and sources of lead, as well as monitoring national progress towards the elimination of childhood lead poisoning.
