In accordance with 5 CFR 1320, with the exception of the surveys for Trade Shows, American Cafe, ant the Export Directory, the information collection is approved for three years. If the agency wishese to request OMB approval for the unapproved portion of this collection, the agency should either submit a new collection or revise this collection to provide the information required by Part B of the supporting statement. Should the agency choose to revise the collection, they are reminded that these information collections should be in a separate "IC" - because they are voluntary and they are not required to obtain benefits. Because public notice requirements for these surveys have been met, the agency does not have to seek further public comment prior to requesting OMB approval.

Our previous OMB submission (March 2004) showed an overall annual burden of 8,463 hours. The current burden is now less than half that number, due to the restructuring of FAS in the autumn of 2006. A number of services and functions previously covered under this information collection are now being performed in the private sector. Under the new structure, FAS is supporting the private sector to move forward and engage only where there is value added with Government support as needed.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
