In accordance with 5 CFR 1320, OMB is not approving the collection at this time. Prior to publication of the final rule, the agency must submit to OMB a summary of any comments related to the proposed recordkeeping requirements and any changes that are made in response to these comments. OMB also requests that the agency revise the abstract to reflect the purpose of the collection.

Currently livestock facilities are required to retain certain records for 2 years, and there are no records retention provisions that apply to slaughtering and rendering establishments. This collection will amend the regulations to state that records will be maintained for 5 years.
