Admittance to Practice and Roster of Registered Patent Attorneys and Agents Admitted to Practice Before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
This collection of information is required by 35 U.S.C.§ 2(b)(2)(D) and administered through 37 CFR 11.5-11.11 and 11.170. Applicants use this collection to apply for the examination for registration and to demonstrate their eligibility to be a registered attorney or agent before the USPTO. The Office of Enrollment and Discipline (OED) collects this information to determine the qualifications of individuals entitled to represent applicants before the USPTO in preparation and prosecution of applications for a patent, and to administer and maintain the roster of attorneys and agents registered to practice before the USPTO. This roster can be accessed by the public through the USPTOÂs website.
The increase in burden hours is due to a combination of the revised number of submissions, a re-estimation of the time it takes to complete some of the responses, and 14 requirements being added into this collection as a result of recent rulemaking activities. The increase in costs for new items being added into the collection is partially offset by a decrease in costs due to expected decreases in filings from existing items.
