This collection is approved for one year. However, collection of Social Security Number is not approved as the agency has failed to demonstrate practical utility for the information at this time. In addition, the agency has no Privacy Act system of records in place and has not documented its means of protecting personal information on what would otherwise be a business record.

Fishermen in Federally-managed fisheries in the western Pacific region are required to maintain valid fishing permits on board their vessels at all times. Permits are renewed annually and are needed to identify participants in the fisheries. Permits also are important to help measure impacts of management controls on the participants in the fisheries of the U.S. exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the western Pacific.
Changes to the permit application forms include requirements for TIN/SSN and date of birth/date of incorporation.
