The American Community Survey provides the Census Bureau with the ability to provide socio-economic data at low levels of geography each year. These data are used by Federal agencies to monitor progress, administer programs, and so forth. Collecting data from a large sample of addresses (approx. 3 million per year) also requires that the Census Bureau continues to review and test methods for containing costs of data collection. The 2007 ACS Methods Panel will include two tracks of research, on testing new content and another testing cost containment strategies. The respondents for these tests include a small, national sample of households in the United States.
