The 2002 Economic Census of Puerto Rico and Island Areas, conducted under the authority of Title 13, United States Code (USC), is the primary source of dependable facts about the structure and functioning of the economies of Puerto Rico and the Island Areas. The census provides the only source of data at a geographic level equivalent to U.S. counties. Economic census statistics provide benchmarks for indexes of industrial production, business activities and sales.
