The IRS announces a disclosure initiative. If a taxpayer discloses its tax treatment of certain items reported on its return(s) no later than 120 days after the date the disclosure initiative is announcement to the public, the IRS will waiver the accuracy-related penalty under section 6662 of the Internal Revenue Code for any underpayment of tax attributable to the disclosed item.
